Using trusted source materials from PBS, NPR and local public media stations, Thinkalong is a free program that helps students think critically about media, develop informed opinions, and practice respectful, civil discourse.

Program Co-Chair

Developed a well-balanced, high-quality program for the 2019 NAMLE National Conference. Managed all aspects of the program including the Call for Papers, peer review process, final selection, scheduling of session rooms, and all additional location and presenter arrangements.

Gateway Media Literacy Partners serves St. Louis and surrounding regions. The mission of GMLP is to:

  • Empower citizens with critical thinking abilities to encourage a healthy society

  • Partner with public, private, independent and volunteer sectors

PRESIDENT, PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

The SSD Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is comprised of families advising and collaborating to improve the education, confidence and social outcomes of each student served by SSD in all 22 partner districts and five SSD schools in St. Louis county.

The mission of the Special School District Parent Advisory Council (SSD PAC) is to fulfill the legislative directives outlined in Senate Bill 687, codified as Sections 162.212, 162.855, 162.856, 162.857, 162.858, 162.859, 162.860, 162.865, 162.867, 162.870 and 162.910 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri.

PARENT MENTOR

MPACT is Missouri's Parent Training and Information Center. MPACT is funded in part or whole by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. The primary goal of MPACT is to assist parents in their effort to effectively advocate for their children's educational rights and services.

PARTNERS IN POLICYMAKING

Partners in Policymaking teaches leadership skills and techniques to develop positive partnerships with elected officials, school personnel and other individuals who make policy decisions about services.

PBIS LEADERSHIP TEAM

Parent representative on the district-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports Leadership Team conducting a quarterly review of ways to improve and expand the PBIS program in the district.

PUBLIC REVIEW COMMITTEE

Under Senate Bill 687, a Public Review Committee (PRC) is appointed every four years to review the operations of the SSD and to make recommendations for improvement.

Areas of review included SSD’s structure, governance, administration, financial management, delivery of services, and cooperation with partner school districts.
